Cashmere Culture
Cashmere takes from the skin-tight surface of a kind of cashmere goat, namely, from the root of wool. When the spring comes, these thin cashmere are combed down with specially-made tool by herdsmen, so these combed cashmere is raw cashmere. In terms of the name of regions, it is called CASHMERE. As the best kind of fiber among all the fibers of animals, cashmere is appraised as “soft gold".
The cashmere goats mainly grow in the northeast part of China, Mongolia, Iran, Afghanistan and other places where difference in temperature is great; the sunshine is abundant and the half-wasteland area. All these special environmental factors determine the small quantities of cashmere goats and high price of cashmere. According to the statistics, the whole world can produce only 10,000 tons of raw cashmere and each goat can only produce 50-80 grams of dehaired goatswool each year; namely, the annual production quantities of five cashmere goats can produce only one piece of plain cashmere sweater. As the biggest cashmere production country in the world, China can produce 60% of the total cashmere output of the world, with higher quality than other countries.
The value of the cashmere is not only for its rarity, but also the cashmere products are unbeatable for the products woven by wool and other fibers which the consumers are familiar with, on the aspect of appearance, quality, softness, comfortability and warm. Especially, the cashmere produced in Mongolia and Erdos regions, which is praised as the best cashmere in China and ''diamond fiber" by the foreign guests, are far ahead of that produced in other areas in respect of fiber elasticity, fiber length, fineness, whiteness and colors etc.
Cashmere products appeared in 1960s. Most Chinese knew cashmere in 1990s. China is the first cashmere products exporter.
People has a prejudice that the pilling of cashmere is a quality problem. In fact, it is a common sense that cashmere garment pills. Cashmere product is featured with fine fiber and smoothness. In order to give full play to the features, a special felting technology is adopted in the process with the purpose to felt fibers from the yarn for covering on the surface of cashmere product so as to make good feel. Therefore, a layer of hair is necessary for cashmere product on the surface. Under this condition, it is a normal phenomenon that cashmere product pills. Only peel off it, without any affection on dressing.
