 | |  | | Speculators reduce exposure to dollars:
According to CFTC IMM futures data, for the week ending September 9, speculators continued to scale back their net purchases of dollar positions. Net longs in yen contracts added onto its sharp gains from the previous week, rising to its highest level since February 2000 at 52,845 contracts, up from 46,955 contracts. Speculators added onto their net purchases in euro contracts to 2,505, up slightly from a week earlier at 2,129. Although speculators were net sellers in swissie contracts for the ninth consecutive week, net selling declined by almost 20% to 16,104 contracts, versus 20,089 contracts a week earlier. Net selling in cable contracts posted a steep drop to 614 contracts, down considerably from 65,425 contracts in the previous week. Net longs in Canadian dollar contracts jumped up by 58% to 19,420, from 12,265 contracts a week earlier. Lastly, net long contracts in the Aussie slipped to 3,434 contracts, from 4,703 in the prior week.
